Stephen King – Elevation

Stephen King - Elevation. the-things-we-read.com
Hello and welcome over here!

Another short novel by Mr. Stephen King himself. This one is even shorter than ,,Joyland” and in my opinion even better. I am not sure if there is any author I have read as many books from, as from Stephen King. And I guess there are not many authors who are as productive and creative as he is.

In 2018 he published two new books (and the other one, called ,,the Outsider”, is not as short as this one is).

Nevertheless, this pretty little novel called ,,Elevation” is great. It is set in – where else should it be – a tiny little town in Maine, New England. It is one of those little towns, where King loves to set his stories. With all those stereotype characters, who still do have their very own flair.

The story is described pretty fast: There we have our protagonist, Scott Carey, who is losing weight. But is body isn’t changing. And he is losing weight rapidly – he is going on to zero. But he does not panic. Instead he is feeling better and better everyday, as if he is losing all of the weight of his heart and elevates himself up and above his little hometown and far far away from those many xenophobic small-minded people.

This novel is not one of our beloved scary goosebump novels, but it is still one the best books he has ever written and I would like to recommend it to everyone. You don’t have to be a King-fan to enjoy this book, but maybe you will be afterwards!

Thank you so much for reading and until next time at the things we read!
